Words, Words, Words
Several events this year will celebrate the written and spoken word, and use the setting of Maple Grove and its landscape as an inspiration for story-telling and literature.
"The Historic Architecture of the Hudson Valley" - Artist's Salon at the Muddy Cup Coffee House in Poughkeepsie
In cooperation with the Barrett Art Center, Maple Grove hosted an Artist's Salon on "The Historic Architecture of the Hudson Valley" on Thursday, March 27 at 8 p.m. at the Muddy Cup, 305 Main Street, Poughkeepsie. The program featured actress Linda Roper, reading a selection from Edith Wharton's novel Hudson River Bracketed, and architectural historian William B. Rhoads talking about notable buildings in the region. The event was free and open to the public; a local independent bookseller had a selection of books available for sale.
Writers reading at Maple Grove
During the summer months, on three Sunday afternoons a series of authors who live in the Hudson Valley will read from their works, in one of the first-floor rooms at Maple Grove.
